Hearts 'n' Hugs Fund
Build-A-Bear Foundation knows a hug is understood in any language. Through the Hearts ‘n’ Hugs Fund, we share the power of teddy bears with kids most in need of a hug.
Literacy Programme
Our core focus is to promote childhood literacy by providing access to books and amazing reading experiences. With best-in-class partners, we’re empowering the next generation by sharing diverse titles and amazing reading experiences where they’re needed most.

Krystin’s Wish to Give Back
When Krystin was in the hospital, she felt isolated. Being diagnosed with leukemia changed her life. When Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington told her she would be granted a wish, she wanted kids in the hospital to feel less alone. Krystin’s wish came true when the cancer units at Seattle Children's were transformed into Build-A-Bear Workshops for a day! Stuffing machines, adorable outfits, and special furry friends were set up so patients could create a one-of-a-kind friend just for them.
Reading Buddy Gifting with BookTrust
As our UK literacy partner, BookTrust is helping us get every child reading, regularly and by choice, with an enhanced focus on children with disadvantaged backgrounds. Build-A-Bear Foundation is a core funder of the BookStart Early Years programme serving readers 0-6 years old – we’ve helped share tens of thousands of book packs with families across the UK. We also provide furry friend reading buddies to promote a love of reading in early life.
